The Malta Catholic Bible was developed by the Malta Prison Volunteers of Connecticut for free distribution within correctional facilities. It features the Good News Translation (appropriate for many inmates' reading level) with the Apocrypha and Deuterocanonical books, and an additional 16 pages of prayers and materials especially compiled for Catholic inmates.
The production and donation of these Bibles is an especially important work since Connecticut Department of Correction regulations forbid the use of public funds to purchase Bibles for individual inmates.
At this time, Catholic chaplains working in correctional facilities may order the Bibles, free of charge, in case lot quantities of 24. If there is a shortage between press runs, the Catholic Bible produced by the American Association of the Order of Malta will be provided.
The American Association of the Order of Malta has also produced Catholic Books of Prayers, available in English and Spanish.
To obtain a sample copy of the Bible, for information on how to begin distributing the Bibles in your area, or for information on the Catholic Books of Prayers, contact MPVCT at contact@mpvct.org, send a fax to 203-362-3348, or write to MPVCT, 33 Chester Place, Southport, Ct 06890-0481.
